American Christian Coleman emerged victorious in the men’s 100 metres race at the Xiamen Diamond League, marking the return of the premier one-day series to China after a four-year hiatus due to COVID disruptions. Coleman finished with a time of 9.83 seconds, drawing cheers from the crowd at the Egret Stadium in Xiamen. Jamaican athlete Kishane Thompson claimed silver with a time of 9.85 seconds, while American Fred Kerley took bronze in 9.96 seconds. Coleman’s win reaffirmed his potential following a fifth-placed finish at the Budapest world championships. The event also saw standout performances from other athletes, including Hansle Parchment’s surprise victory in the men’s 110m hurdles. Kirani James secured gold in the men’s 400m race with a season’s best effort of 44.38 seconds, while Marileidy Paulino triumphed in the women’s 400m. Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Beatrice Chebet were victorious in the men’s 800m and women’s 3,000m races, respectively. The Diamond League series will continue with its next competition in Brussels, followed by the final event in Eugene.
