PM Narendra Modi, in an interview with Moneycontrol, has denounced the ‘might is right culture’ and highlighted the significance of shared prosperity and optimal resource utilization as essential conditions for global progress. He cautioned against supply chain disruptions resulting from unilateralism and isolationism, expressing concerns over the increasing pressure on natural resources and infrastructure. PM Modi’s remarks were interpreted by some as directed towards China’s muscle flexing, coercive debt use, and expansionist policies. He emphasized the necessity of countries offering stable policies that encourage businesses and innovation. PM Modi has consistently emphasized the need for building resilient and reliable supply chains, a concern shared by several countries. The remark on resources followed his warning about the ‘new model of colonialism’ if countries withholding critical minerals failed to share them with others. While acknowledging the multipolar nature of the new world order, PM Modi stressed the continuous need to create a consensus on common goals. Additionally, he highlighted the concern over inflation and acknowledged the global issue, stating the necessity of close cooperation in tackling it. India has taken steps to tackle price rise and implement pro-poor decisions, such as reducing cooking gas prices.
