Man Sentenced to Seven Years for Sexual Assault on Minor Girl in Salem

A 26-year-old man, C. Palanisamy alias Soundarajan, has been sentenced to undergo seven years of imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl in Salem. The incident took place on February 5, 2020, when Palanisamy, a resident of Arurpatti near Tharamangalam, kidnapped a 14-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her under the false promise of marriage.

The Omalur All Women Police registered a case against Palanisamy under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He was subsequently arrested and the trial was held at the Special Court for the Trial of POCSO Act cases.

On Tuesday, the court found Palanisamy guilty and sentenced him to undergo seven years of imprisonment. In addition to the prison term, he was also fined ₹1,000.

The case highlights the importance of stringent laws for the protection of children from sexual offenses. It serves as a reminder that such crimes will not be tolerated and that the perpetrators will face severe consequences. The sentence given to Palanisamy sends a strong message to potential offenders and serves as justice for the victim and her family.
