ETtech Morning Dispatch: Indian startups gear up for The Economic Times Startup Awards; Bizongo fires employees after funding round; Fintech startups report revenue growth; Dream11 acquires Sixer; Applied Materials to set up R&D lab in Bengaluru

Top entrepreneurs, policymakers, and investors will come together at The Economic Times Startup Awards in Bengaluru on October 7 to celebrate the best of Indian entrepreneurship. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar will be the guests of honor at the event. Over 300 eminent personalities from the business, government, and entrepreneurship world are expected to attend and participate in discussions on shaping the startup ecosystem and building profitable and sustainable businesses. In other news, despite securing a $50 million funding round, Bizongo has fired approximately 50 employees, constituting about 15% of its workforce. Fintech startups Cred, Mobikwik, and Groww have reported strong revenue growth, with Cred witnessing a 252% jump in total income in FY23. Meanwhile, Dream11 has acquired fantasy firm Sixer, and Applied Materials plans to set up an R&D lab in Bengaluru.
