Netflix has officially confirmed that the highly-anticipated third season of Vikings: Valhalla, the sequel to the immensely popular series Vikings, will be the show’s final installment. Fans can look forward to the last adventure of Leif, Freydís, and Harald, with the third season set for release in 2024.
To provide a sneak peek, Netflix has unveiled initial on-set photos featuring Leo Suter as Harald Sigurdsson, Sam Corlett as Leif Eriksson, and Frida Gustavsson as Freydís Eiríksdóttir, all in character during the filming of the Viking heroes’ thrilling final journeys.
Jeb Stuart, the show’s creator, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to narrate the tales of Leif, Harald, and Freydis over three seasons. He emphasized his initial vision of showcasing how these iconic Viking figures evolved, and he believes that they have achieved precisely that. Stuart, renowned for his work on blockbuster films like Die Hard and The Fugitive, added that he hopes the audience will be thrilled by the new heights to which these heroes are taken in the upcoming season.
Addressing potential disappointment among fans regarding the show concluding after only three seasons, Stuart explained that while there are undoubtedly more aspects of their lives to explore, it made sense within the storyline for the voyages of Leif, Freydís, and Harald to culminate with the third season. This decision was made to provide a satisfying conclusion to their journeys and character arcs.
