On October 9, an FIR was filed at the Juhu police station against a Twitter user, Dr Nimo Yadav, whose handle is @NiravModi, for spreading fake news about filmmaker Ashoke Pandit’s health. Yadav has a history of making derogatory comments about celebrities, but this particular tweet caused concern among Pandit’s friends and family. Director Hansal Mehta responded to the tweet, urging Yadav to stop spreading false rumors. Eventually, an FIR was filed against Yadav at the Juhu Police station. Pandit sought the intervention of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and the Police Commissioner in taking action against Yadav. The tweet created panic within Pandit’s circle. Yadav also created a fake account impersonating Pandit and responded to his own tweet. Film bodies like I.M.P.P.A, IFTDA, and F.W.I.C.E condemned Yadav’s actions. Pandit and the film bodies expressed gratitude to the Mumbai Police for their quick response. Pandit emphasized the need to identify and arrest Yadav for spreading rumors and creating a fake account. He thanked the police for filing the FIR promptly.
