The Tripura government is taking steps to combat crime and mafia syndicates by establishing a Special Task Force, according to Chief Minister Manik Saha. Speaking at the Martyrs Memorial, the Chief Minister announced that 1,417 personnel from two India Reserve battalions of the Tripura State Rifles have been recruited for the purpose and are currently undergoing training. Among the recruits, 137 are women. Chief Minister Saha emphasized the government’s zero tolerance for criminals and assured the public that he is personally monitoring the situation. He urged the police and security establishments to carry out their duties professionally and earn appreciation and support from the general public.

Chief Minister Saha addressed the reports in the media and advised the police to address them as well. He recognized the sacrifices made by security personnel in the line of duty and expressed gratitude for their supreme sacrifice. The creation of the Special Task Force reflects the government’s commitment to cracking down on crime and ensuring the safety and security of the state.

The establishment of the Special Task Force comes as Tripura observes a day to honor the personnel of the police and security forces who lost their lives in counter-insurgency operations. Over the course of nearly three decades, several hundred men in uniform laid down their lives while fighting insurgency in the state. The creation of this force will further enhance the state’s efforts to maintain law and order and eliminate criminal activities.
