Two Rugby players and a weightlifter have been hospitalised after suffering injuries during sports events as part of the National Games in Goa. Bharat Chauhan, a Rugby player from the Maharashtra team, suffered an injury on October 25 and underwent surgery at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Goan Rugby player Sohan Shirodkar was also injured in an event and admitted to the GMCH. Biswa Varghuse, a weightlifter from the Kerala team, was admitted to the GMCH on Tuesday. The GMCH has established a special ward to cater to the needs of the National Games participants. State Sports Minister Govind Gaude visited the injured athletes and assured them of the government’s support. He mentioned that the GMCH has set up medical facilities for the players.
