Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed a public meeting in Kanker, Chhattisgarh, where he made several promises ahead of the state elections. He pledged to provide free education in government schools and colleges through the ‘KG to PG’ initiative if the Congress retains power in the state. Gandhi also announced that tendu leaves collectors would receive ₹4,000 per year under the Rajiv Gandhi Protsahan Yojana. He called for a caste census and criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not supporting it. Gandhi accused the BJP-led Centre of working for the benefit of a few industrialists, while the Congress works for the welfare of farmers, Dalits, laborers, and Adivasis.
