The new Vande Sadharan Push-Pull train has arrived in Mumbai on Saturday and is currently being kept at the Wadi Bunder yard before it goes through trials this week, according to sources. The train is designed to offer low fares for passengers and is capable of running at a maximum speed of 130 kmph. It is a 22-coach LHB non-AC 3-tier sleeper train without any automatic doors. The train has a capacity of carrying 1,800 passengers. The trials are expected to be conducted on the Mumbai-Nashik corridor, particularly along the ghat section. There are reports that one of the potential routes for the train could be Mumbai to Delhi, although senior officials have declined to comment on this. The train is hauled by two WAP5 locos on either end, both of which have aerodynamic noses.
