Mira Road independent MLA Geeta Jain’s daughter, Sneha Saklecha, has become a victim of an online scam. Saklecha, one of the directors of the family-run Sonam Group of Companies, filed a complaint with the Navghar police in Bhayander (E), stating that she was duped of Rs 79,000 by a cyberfraudster. According to her complaint, Saklecha was making an online payment for sweets when she received a WhatsApp call from an unknown number claiming to be from the sweet shop. The caller asked her to enter a figure as a code, which resulted in the money being debited from her account. The caller convinced her that it was a mistake and asked her to enter the same figure again, leading to an additional loss of Rs 39,506. An investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the cyberfraudster.
