China calls for consensus ahead of virtual G-20 summit chaired by Indian PM

China has urged the G-20 leaders to build consensus and address global challenges as India prepares to host a virtual G-20 summit chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson expressed the need for reinforcing partnership and making a positive contribution to world economic recovery and global common development. The summit will be attended by leaders of all G-20 members, the African Union chair, nine guest countries, and heads of 11 international organizations. The summit is expected to focus on the effective implementation of various G-20 decisions. Premier Li Qiang will represent China at the summit. The virtual summit will review key outcomes and action points from the New Delhi Summit and the discussions of the 2nd Voice of Global South Summit held on November 17, 2023.
