Israeli strikes put Damascus airport out of service again
    Uncategorized

Israeli air strikes on Sunday made Damascus airport inoperable just hours after flights had resumed following a similar attack last month, a war monitor said. Israeli warplanes targeted the runways at Damascus international airport, putting it out of service again. Israel has launched hundreds of air strikes on its northern neighbour since Syria’s civil war began, primarily targeting fighters of Hezbollah and other Iran-backed forces, as well as Syrian army positions. The recent intensification of attacks followed the war between Israel and Hezbollah ally, Hamas. Israeli strikes on Damascus airport and Aleppo airport on October 12 and October 22 put both facilities out of service. Flights were temporarily re-routed to Latakia, but had reportedly resumed from Damascus on Sunday. Israel rarely comments on individual strikes, but it has repeatedly stated its opposition to Iran’s expanding presence in Syria, where it backs President Bashar al-Assad’s government.
