British PM Rishi Sunak Accuses Greek Counterpart of Grandstanding Over Parthenon Sculptures
    Uncategorized

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has escalated tensions with Greece by accusing Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of grandstanding during his recent visit to London. Sunak cancelled a scheduled meeting with Mitsotakis after the Greek PM used the opportunity to advocate for the return of the Parthenon sculptures, also known as the Elgin Marbles, from the British Museum. Sunak stated that the purpose of the meeting was not to discuss substantive issues for the future, but rather for Mitsotakis to relitigate past issues. Mitsotakis has responded, calling the cancellation of the meeting an unfortunate event. This diplomatic spat highlights the ongoing dispute between Greece and Britain over the rightful ownership of the ancient sculptures.
