Heavy snow in northern England has caused significant problems for motorists and led to power outages affecting more than 2,500 customers. Trucks jackknifed on snow-covered roads, leading to blockages and long delays for drivers. Some motorists were stranded in their cars overnight. Emergency services worked diligently to assist those stuck in deep snow. However, there were reports of verbal abuse towards highway workers. Schools, churches, and a scout hut offered emergency shelter for stranded travelers. Electricity is expected to be restored by Sunday night. The Met Office has issued a weather warning for ice in the Midlands, the north of England, much of north and central Wales, and eastern Scotland from Sunday evening to Monday afternoon.
