Domino’s Focuses on Quality and Speed to Trump Local Rivals

Domino’s Pizza in India, operated by Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd (JFL), is intensifying its efforts to combat competition from gourmet pizzerias and regional pizza players. JFL Managing Director Sameer Khetarpal expressed satisfaction with the influx of local pizzerias in the market, as they help to foster growth. In response, Domino’s is enhancing its gourmet range by introducing new premium cheese varieties, toppings, and sauces. It is also ramping up the sampling of gourmet pizzas in the top-10 markets across the country. Domino’s aims to deliver international quality with fast service and is planning to compete against all fast-food chains. Russel Weiner, CEO of Domino’s Pizza, stated that the brand is seizing market share from independent and regional pizza competitors. India and China are projected to be key contributors to Domino’s international expansion next year, with the store count in India expected to reach 3,000 by 2029. To address the rise of local rivals globally, Domino’s is focusing on a value strategy to attract more customers. The pizza market in India is becoming increasingly competitive, with regional chains accounting for approximately 30% of all outlets. Home-grown brands such as La Pino’z have experienced significant growth, doubling their number of stores in just three years. Despite the tough competition, Domino’s is betting on quality and speed to outperform the local rivals.
