Land-for-Jobs Case: CBI to File Comprehensive Charge Sheet
    Uncategorized

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to file a ‘comprehensive’ charge sheet in the land-for-jobs case, where former Union minister Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, and son Tejashwi Yadav already stand charge sheeted. The charge sheet is expected to highlight the alleged role played by RJD Rajya Sabha member Prem Chand Gupta.

In a supplementary charge sheet filed in July, the CBI had revealed the alleged involvement of Gupta for the first time. Gupta, a close aide of Lalu Prasad, is alleged to have played a key role in the purchase of lands through a company to illegally benefit Lalu and his family.

The charge sheet also stated that lands and properties were acquired in a concealed manner by purchasing them in the name of a company and subsequently transferring the ownership to Lalu Prasad’s family. Lalu, Rabri Devi, and Tejashwi Yadav were described as the ‘ultimate beneficiaries’ in the case.

The CBI plans to file supplementary charge sheets in the case in a phased manner as more railway officials from other railway zones are believed to be involved. However, the agency is considering filing a comprehensive charge sheet to avoid delays in the trial.
