The Bombay high court has recently directed Interpol to locate and verify the addresses of film producer Mushtaq Nadiadwala’s children, who are Indian nationals and currently residing in Pakistan. The court has expressed concerns about the safety of the children and wants Interpol to ensure their well-being. Mushtaq Nadiadwala had filed a petition seeking information about his wife and two children. He claimed that his wife had not complied with a court order to arrange communication between the children and their father. Nadiadwala stated that the last time he spoke to his children was six months ago. The Interpol, in response to the court’s directive, mentioned that it had issued a yellow corner notice and submitted an address. However, Nadiadwala’s counsel argued that his wife keeps changing her address, which needs to be verified. The counsel also mentioned that she had applied for Indian citizenship before leaving for Pakistan. The government of India, through its High Commission in Islamabad, is actively pursuing the matter with the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will continue its efforts to resolve the issue. The High Court has instructed Interpol to file an affidavit regarding the whereabouts and safety of the children by February 15, 2024. Meanwhile, Nadiadwala will continue pursuing his legal remedies before the Lahore family court due to the non-compliance of the court order by his wife.
