McDonald’s Malaysia Sues Israel Boycott Movement for $1 Million in Damages

McDonald’s Malaysia has filed a lawsuit against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Malaysia movement, seeking damages of 6 million ringgit ($1.31 million). The movement is accused of making false and defamatory statements that have negatively impacted the business of McDonald’s Malaysia. Malaysia, a majority-Muslim country, has expressed strong support for the Palestinians, leading to boycott campaigns against Western fast-food brands associated with Israel’s actions in Gaza. McDonald’s Malaysia has confirmed the lawsuit and stated that it aims to protect its rights and interests. BDS Malaysia has denied the allegations and stated that the matter will be decided in court.
