Renowned filmmaker Mira Nair and documentary director Shaunak Sen have found themselves among the esteemed jury panel for the upcoming Sundance Film Festival 2024. The festival, known for its recognition of visionary emerging artists, will take place from January 18 to 28 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Shaunak Sen had previously premiered his film All That Breathes at the Sundance Festival in 2022, winning the prestigious Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary Competition. This year, Shaunak Sen has been invited to be a part of the World Cinema Documentary Competition jury.
Mira Nair, on the other hand, will be lending her expertise to the World Cinema Dramatic Competition panel. She will join Australian actor Jennifer Kent, renowned for the 2014 Sundance premiere of The Babadook, and Rui Poças, the Portuguese cinematographer known for his work on films like O Fantasma and Frankie.
Eugene Hernandez, the festival director, expressed his excitement about the jury line-ups, emphasizing their crucial role in discovering and promoting emerging artists. He stated, ‘We are thrilled to announce the talented, accomplished artists who comprise this year’s jury.’
