Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has pledged to provide employment opportunities to 60,000 youngsters hailing from families that earn less than INR 1.80 lakh annually. Addressing the state-level ‘Vivekananda Youth Mahasammelan’ on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary, Khattar outlined the details of the initiative called ‘Mission 60,000’. As part of the mission, the government will engage 7,500 ‘Van Mitra’ individuals, recruit 15,000 contractual employees through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam, and engage 7,500 ‘e-Sewa Mitra’ for Common Services Centre, among others.

The chief minister also said that 15,000 youths possessing a diploma or a degree in civil engineering will be trained to become contractors. Under this program, the government will provide a loan of INR 3 lakhs to these individuals for one year without requiring any collateral. Trained youths will also be exempt from providing any guarantee for work up to INR 25 lakh. The main aim of this initiative is to boost the annual income of these individuals, enabling them to rise above the Below Poverty Line (BPL) threshold.

Paying tribute to Swami Vivekananda, Khattar highlighted his profound representation of India’s perspective at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893. The chief minister further expressed that Swami Vivekananda’s life serves as an inspiration to all.

During the event, the chief minister laid the foundation stone of the Saraswati Vatika development work of the irrigation and water resources department. The project, which will be completed in three phases, has a budget of INR 3.68 crore.

Sanjay Bhatia, Karnal MP, and Sandeep Singh, Printing and Stationery Minister, were also present on the occasion.
