Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, during his speech at the Sangolli Rayanna festival, pointed out that the Congress fought for the freedom of the country and questioned the patriotism of individuals who did not fight against the British. He mentioned the ‘divide and rule policy’ employed by the British, French, and Mughals to rule the country and acknowledged Sangolli Rayanna’s fierce fight against the British. Siddaramaiah condemned the betrayal faced by Rayanna at the hands of his own people. He further stated that true patriotism means loving all people and not harboring hatred based on caste or religion. Siddaramaiah also referenced the teachings of social reformer Basavanna and Constitution architect B.R. Ambedkar, who advocated for love and humanity without discrimination. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of farmers, teachers, and soldiers in safeguarding the country and praised the sacrifice of individuals like Sangolli Rayanna. Siddaramaiah discussed the Sangolli Rayanna Area Development Authority formed during his previous tenure and mentioned various development works. He expressed his happiness about 250 children receiving education at the Sainik School in Sangolli and promised additional funding for the village. The event was attended by several ministers, MLAs, and religious figures.
