IndiGo Fined Rs 1.2 Crore and Mumbai Airport Fined Rs 90 Lakh for Tarmac Meal Incident

Aviation authorities have imposed fines of Rs 2.1 crore on IndiGo and Mumbai International Airport for two separate incidents. The first incident involved stranded passengers of IndiGo’s diverted flight eating on the apron of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. IndiGo was fined Rs 1.2 crore for serving refreshments on the apron and for not following security screening procedures. Mumbai Airport was fined Rs 90 lakh for allowing the lapse to occur. The second incident involved Air India and SpiceJet failing to deploy CAT III-trained pilots during foggy conditions in Delhi. Both airlines were fined Rs 30 lakh each.
