Telangana’s Dharani portal lacks transparency, says panel

The panel constituted by the Telangana government to study the problems with the land records management portal, Dharani, has decided to take a holistic approach in dealing with the deficiencies. In their third meeting, the panel members discussed the need for coordination with different districts and other departments like Agriculture and Registration. They also plan to visit other states to study their online land management record systems before suggesting changes. The panel, headed by M. Kodanda Reddy, vice-president of All India Kisan Congress, will submit an interim report to the government, addressing minute issues. The panel emphasized the importance of transparency in the registration process and the need for rectification of all the issues in the final report. The panel also acknowledged the unique problems created by the Dharani portal, which have led to land rights and government subsidies being lost by farmers. They stressed the need for a comprehensive understanding of the system before finalizing the report. The committee aims to provide relief to the affected parties and suggest solutions to the problems created by the portal. The panel members expressed the importance of ensuring the safety and trustworthiness of land records throughout the computerization process.
