Former India stars Ravi Shastri and Farokh Engineer will be honored with the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Lifetime Achievement Award at a ceremony in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Shubman Gill, who had an exceptional year in international cricket in 2023, will be presented with the Cricketer of the Year award. The BCCI awards ceremony is taking place for the first time since the onset of the Covid pandemic in March 2020. It will be attended by both the Indian and English cricket teams ahead of the first Test in Hyderabad.

Ravi Shastri, 61, represented India in 80 Tests and 150 ODIs during his playing career. After retiring from cricket, he found success as a TV commentator and served as the head coach of the Indian team from 2017 to 2021. Farokh Engineer, an 85-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, played 46 Tests and also had a brief stint in ODIs. He played county cricket for Lancashire and later settled in Manchester as an administrator.

In addition to the former players’ awards, several domestic cricket players who excelled from the 2019-20 season to the 2022-23 season will also receive recognition at the BCCI awards ceremony on Tuesday.
