Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Fighter’ had a positive start at the box office, earning Rs 22 crore on its opening day. The aerial action drama, directed by Siddharth Anand, is expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the coming days. ‘Fighter’ revolves around the Balakot airstrike conducted by the Indian Armed Forces near the town of Balakot in Pakistan. The counter airstrike targeted the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) camp. Hrithik Roshan plays the role of Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania, also known as Patty, while Deepika Padukone portrays the character of Squadron Leader Minal Rathore, aka Minni. Anil Kapoor is seen as Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh, also known as Rocky.
The film received a positive response from the audience and has been doing well in advance bookings. According to Sacnilk, ‘Fighter’ has already sold over 2 lakh 90 thousand tickets and has pocketed Rs 9.28 crore from advance bookings alone.
Over the weekend, the movie is expected to witness a significant increase in numbers. On Republic Day, ‘Fighter’ managed to collect Rs 39 crore net, contributing to its total net collection of Rs 61.5 crore in India during the first two days of its release across all languages. With such a successful start, ‘Fighter’ is heading towards the Rs 100 crore mark and is likely to perform well in the coming weeks.
