A special squad of police in Kozhikode apprehended two individuals who were smuggling 55 kg of ganja into the city. The narcotics were being transported from Andhra Pradesh and were intercepted during a vehicle checking operation near Poovattuparamba. The police taking action based on a tip-off about secret sale of smuggled ganja in Peruvayal panchayat. The seized narcotics have an estimated value of ₹20 lakh in the market. The two arrested individuals, N.P. Muraleedharan and P.P. Johnson, are both lorry drivers and are suspected of colluding with wholesale drug pushers. Further investigations are underway to uncover the entire drug supply chain and apprehend other individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
