Northern Command chief Lieutenant-General Upendra Dwivedi will take over as the new Army vice chief on February 15. He was commissioned into the Jammu & Kashmir Rifles in December 1984 and had taken over the Northern Command in February 2022. Lieutenant-General M V Suchindra Kumar, who was commissioned into 1 Assam Regiment in June 1985, will replace Lieutenant-General Dwivedi at Udhampur. Lieutenant-General Kumar had become the vice chief in March 2023. These appointment changes come ahead of Army chief Gen Manoj Pande’s superannuation on May 31.
