The Islamabad Deputy Commissioner has rejected the PTI’s application to hold a protest demonstration in Islamabad against alleged election rigging in the 2024 general elections. Citing Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the administration stated that the law prohibits demonstrations in the capital city. The administration has also advised citizens to avoid participating in any political gatherings and urged Islamabad police to take action against those involved in the protest demonstration. PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat announced that he would lead the demonstration from Islamabad’s F9 park to the National Press Club. He reassured that the protest would be peaceful but warned that it would continue until the desired results are achieved. PTI leader Asad Qaiser extended an invitation to other political parties to join the country-wide protest. The PTI had previously released a white paper alleging election rigging and decided to commence their demonstrations on February 17.
