Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari dismissed the speculation of former Chief Minister Kamal Nath joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and recalled how former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had described Nath as her “third son”. Patwari stated that it was unimaginable for Nath to join the BJP and affirmed that he stood firmly with the Congress during difficult times. Another Congress leader, Digvijaya Singh, also rubbished the rumours and referred to them as a media creation. Kamal Nath arrived in New Delhi amid the speculation and, while interacting with reporters, asked them not to get excited. He added that if there were any such plans, he would inform the media first. Digvijaya Singh expressed his confidence in Kamal Nath’s loyalty to the Congress, citing his long-standing association with the Nehru-Gandhi family. Singh urged the media to refrain from spreading misinformation. Kamal Nath, who has worked closely with three generations of the Gandhi family, shares a special bond with Madhya Pradesh, dating back to 1979 when Indira Gandhi referred to him as her “third son”.
