The president of AP Unemployed Joint Action Committee (JAC), Samayam Hemanth Kumar, has demanded that the government fill 2.32 lakh vacancies as promised by YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He emphasized the need for the government to conduct a Mega DSC (District Selection Committee) to fill one lakh jobs. In addition, he called for the filling of 26,000 jobs in the police department and digital library posts in 15004 secretariats. Hemanth Kumar also demanded the announcement of five grace marks for the written test conducted on February 22, 2023, for police constables’ posts.
To put pressure on the government, the president of the State Unemployed JAC, Hemanth Kumar, initiated the Odarpu Yatra, which aims to cover all 13 undivided districts of Andhra Pradesh. Through this yatra, he intends to bring attention to the plight of unemployed youth and highlight the government’s failure to address their concerns. He specifically requested the government to fill the posts of Physical Education Teacher (PET) and Library employees in the District Selection Committee (DSC). He also called for a minimum gap of one month between TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) and DSC exams, as well as changes in the dates for Group One and DSC exams.
Hemanth Kumar further demanded that the government fulfill all promises made to unemployed youth prior to the 2019 elections. He urged the government to implement these promises and include them in the 2024 election manifesto before seeking votes. Additionally, he called for an increase in the age limit to 47 years for APPSC (Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission) and AP DSC (Andhra Pradesh District Selection Committee) exams, as well as the release of notifications for these exams. He alleged that many posts in various departments had received approval from the finance department but did not receive permission for notification through APPSC.
Hemanth Kumar highlighted the disparity between sanctioned posts and actual appointments. For example, out of 1.28 lakh sanctioned posts in Group-I, only 89 were filled. Similarly, out of 4.83 lakh sanctioned Group II posts, only 889 were filled. The discrepancies continued in other areas, such as Deputy District Education Officer positions, where only 38 out of 28,450 posts were filled. Furthermore, out of 11,773 sanctioned degree college lecturer posts, only 257 were filled. Despite receiving approval from the finance department, no notifications were released through APPSC for 7823 junior college lecturers, 11981 polytechnic college lecturers, and 9456 pollution board posts.
Hemanth Kumar’s demands reflect the frustrations of unemployed youth in Andhra Pradesh and their dissatisfaction with the government’s inaction in filling vacancies. The president hopes that his initiatives, including the Odarpu Yatra, will bring much-needed attention to this pressing issue.
