The river navigation department (RND) has announced a new proposal to build a 12m floating jetty-cum-pontoon at Chorao, Goa. The first attempt to construct the jetty in December received interest from only one company. The RND has now floated a fresh tender for the design, construction, and installation of the floating jetty. The new jetty will be used to moor idle ferries at night and will replace the existing dilapidated pontoon on the Chorao side. The RND has also received approval from the government to lease out an electric ferry for river cruises and tours.
