An Indian Army contingent departed for Seychelles on Sunday to participate in the 10th edition of Joint Military Exercise ‘LAMITIYE-2024’, according to a statement by the Ministry of Defence. The Joint Exercise between the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) will be conducted in Seychelles from March 18-27. The exercise, which is held biennially since 2001, aims to enhance interoperability and cooperation in sub-conventional operations. It will focus on training, planning, and executing tactical drills for neutralizing potential threats in a semi-urban environment. The exercise will also facilitate the exchange of skills, experiences, and good practices between both armies. During the 10-day exercise, field training exercises, combat discussions, lectures, and demonstrations will take place, culminating in two days of validation exercises. The exercise is expected to develop mutual understanding, jointness, and collaborative partnerships between the troops of both armies. It will contribute to sharing best practices and strengthening bilateral military relations between India and Seychelles.
