Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, officials in Kaithal district, Haryana, have stated that all preparations have been made to conduct free and fair elections on May 25. Deputy Commissioner Prashant Pawar announced that people with disabilities and those above the age of 85 will be able to cast their vote from the comfort of their homes. A contact form will be made available at the election office in the secretariat for such individuals to fill and submit. Once the data is received, teams will be formed to ensure their votes are exercised in an efficient manner.
DC Pawar also emphasized the need for political leaders to adhere to the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India during the model code of conduct period. Flying squads and surveillance teams have been deployed in the field to monitor and take action against any violations. The nomination process can be completed until May 6, with officials investigating the submitted documents on May 7. Candidates have until May 9 to withdraw their nomination papers. The actual voting will take place on May 25, with the counting scheduled for June 4.
Kaithal district consists of four assemblies – Kaithal, Pundri, Kalayat, and Guhla – with a total of 8,11623 voters. Out of the total voters, there are 4,27914 male voters and 3,83698 female voters, along with 11 transgender individuals. A total of 807 polling centres have been set up, with 96 considered sensitive and 6 under high sensitivity zones.
DC Pawar also stated that officials will closely monitor financial transactions in the district. In this regard, a control room has been established at the district headquarters which connects to a toll-free number, 1950, for lodging complaints related to the election process. The control room will be operational round the clock to ensure efficient handling of complaints.
