Gayatari Mohanty, a 19-year-old from New Delhi, had always dreamt of becoming a dancer. However, her family’s financial constraints prevented her from taking formal dance lessons. Determined to pursue her passion, Mohanty taught herself to dance. In 2019, she stumbled upon TikTok and was attracted to the platform’s playful videos. Mohanty and her friend began uploading clips of her energetic dance performances, set to classic Bollywood tunes from the 1960s and 70s. Despite the challenges she faced, Mohanty’s talent and dedication paid off as she gained fame on TikTok, showcasing her dancing skills to a larger audience.
