In Kerala’s Wayanad constituency, where Rahul Gandhi won by a massive margin in 2019, his opponent this time, BJP Kerala chief K Surendran, confidently claimed that Gandhi will face the same outcome as in Amethi. The BJP central leadership has nominated Surendran to contest against the INDIA alliance’s two senior leaders, Gandhi and Annie Raja, who secured a mere 7.25% of the vote share in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Surendran criticized Gandhi for his lack of action in addressing the development crisis in Wayanad. Gandhi had previously won in Wayanad with a significant margin against the CPI’s P P Suneer. Meanwhile, the Left parties have been campaigning actively in Wayanad and expressed confidence in their outreach efforts.
