Minister for Excise Jupally Krishna Rao has challenged former Minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao for an open debate over critical issues such as farmers’ problems, pending irrigation projects, and ‘corruption’ during the BRS rule. Jupally condemned Rao’s statement threatening to besiege the Secretariat if crop loss compensation was not provided to farmers. He stated that a total of 6,651 farmers committed suicide in the last 10 years under the BRS regime. Jupally accused Rao of resorting to misleading statements for political gains ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He also questioned whether crop loss compensation, input subsidies, and crop insurance had ever been implemented during the BRS government’s rule.

The Congress government has committed to supporting farmers affected by untimely rains and will provide compensation of ₹10,000 per acre after the final report. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed Ministers and officials to visit fields and submit a report. Jupally criticized KCR, the former Chief Minister, for not personally visiting any farmer during his 10 years of rule. He accused KCR of announcing compensation only in the last year of his rule and stated that only a few farmers received the compensation so far. Telangana Kisan Congress chairman Anvesh Reddy also criticized Harish Rao for spreading false news about crop damage and accused the BRS government of undervaluing crop losses from 2016 to 2020.
