Israel Deploys C-Dome Defence System for First Time
    Uncategorized

Israel has deployed its ship-mounted defence system, the C-Dome, for the first time to intercept a suspicious aerial target near the southern city of Eilat. The C-Dome is a naval version of the Iron Dome air defence system and is used to shield against rocket and missile attacks. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported an alert in the area of Eilat, which was previously targeted by intercepted ballistic missile fire from Yemen’s Houthi rebels. IDF Naval forces successfully intercepted the target using the C-Dome system. Although the IDF did not confirm whether the target was a drone, this operational use of the C-Dome marks a significant milestone. The C-Dome, mounted on Sa’ar 6-class corvettes, uses the same interceptor as the Iron Dome. The land-based Iron Dome has been widely used to intercept rockets fired from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. The deployment of the C-Dome demonstrates Israel’s commitment to enhancing its defence capabilities against aerial threats.
