EC on Tuesday cancelled LS polls in MP’s Betul after BSP candidate Ashok Bhalavi died of a heart attack. Betul was scheduled to vote on April 26, with eight candidates in the fray. Bhalavi (49), a businessman, complained of chest pain around 2pm and was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead, sources said. He had contested the 2019 LS polls from Betul, but had lost the elections. EC will declare a fresh poll date at a later stage, said state chief electoral officer Anupam Rajan.
