Mumbai: The city police in two separate cases seized Rs 4 lakh in cash from two vehicles during a nakabandi in Deonar in the wake of the Election Commission’s model code of conduct for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. In the first case, a businessman was stopped with Rs 2.5 lakh cash as he failed to satisfactorily explain the source of the cash. He said it was the proceeds of the oil sale. In the second incident, three youths from West Bengal, who were travelling in a car with Rs 1.5 lakh cash, were stopped. When questioned by EC officials, they said that the money was given to them by their parents to tour Mumbai. tnn
