Mumbai Indians’ pacer Jasprit Bumrah was in exceptional form as he delivered a stellar performance against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Bumrah picked up impressive figures of 5/21, putting him at the top of the purple cap leaderboard in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is currently tied with Yuzvendra Chahal, both having taken 10 wickets each.

Bumrah’s five-wicket haul against RCB made history in the IPL as he became the first bowler to achieve this milestone against them. In addition, he also set a new record of 29 wickets against RCB, surpassing the previous records held by Ravindra Jadeja and Sandeep Sharma, who had taken 26 wickets each.

This exceptional performance by Bumrah has put him in an elite group of bowlers in IPL history. He joins James Faulkner, Jaydev Unadkat, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the only bowlers to have secured two five-wicket hauls in IPL history.

The match between Mumbai Indians and RCB saw MI opting to bowl first. RCB’s Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli faced a challenging spell from MI’s Gerald Coetzee but managed to navigate through it, despite Kohli’s early dismissal by Bumrah. Du Plessis contributed 61 runs, while Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on 53, helping RCB post a competitive total of 196/8 in their 20 overs.
