Earlier today, Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their alleged misuse of Central agencies, particularly the Income Tax (I-T) department. She claimed that her party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), does not carry gold or money in helicopters. This came as a response to allegations that the I-T department had carried out a search on a helicopter used by Abhishek Banerjee, the TMC MP and Mamata Banerjee’s nephew. Meanwhile, Abhishek Banerjee stated that he will be taking legal action against the intimidation of his security officials. The Election Commission has also sought a report on the I-T search on the helicopter.
