Eight people were shot including two men who were killed at an unsanctioned public party in a Memphis city park Saturday night, police said. Officers responded to the shooting at 7:19 p.m. and discovered that two men had been pronounced dead at the scene. The six surviving victims were transported to area hospitals, with one in critical condition. The shooting took place at a block party in Orange Mound Park, which had around 200 to 300 attendees but did not have a city permit. The police believe at least two individuals fired weapons during the incident and are examining video footage as part of their ongoing investigation. There have been no immediate arrests. Memphis Police Department Chief Cerelyn Davis called for denouncing these senseless acts of violence.
