The Centre reassured the Supreme Court on Monday that a decision will be made soon regarding the release of drought relief funds for Karnataka. The Election Commission has given its green signal for the release of funds, which were requested by the Karnataka government. During the hearing, the Attorney General informed the court that the Centre has approached the Election Commission due to the model code of conduct in place for the ongoing general elections. The court emphasized the need for an amicable resolution, given the federal structure of the country, and postponed the hearing to April 29. Karnataka has requested Rs 18,171 crore as drought relief.
