This statement was made in relation to the candidature of family loyalist KL Sharma from the Amethi constituency. Smriti Irani, who defeated Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, claimed that Priyanka Gandhi has decided not to enter the fray. However, Rahul Gandhi has stated that he is focused on his family’s ‘karmabhoomi’, Rae Bareli, and will not be contesting from Amethi.
