Byju’s Links Pay of Sales Staff to Weekly Revenue

Amid the cash crunch and delay in disbursement of full salaries to employees, Byju’s has started paying its sales staff on the basis of the revenue they generate for the company every week. Under the new structure, employees at all levels will receive a certain percentage of the revenue they generate by converting sales leads. This temporary arrangement aims to provide employees with a steady cash flow, while also putting pressure on them to perform. Sales associates can receive a 50% share of the revenues, while vice-presidents can expect a payout in the range of 1.1-2.4% of the revenues. This compensation policy will be in place until at least May 21.

The new compensation structure ensures that employees have access to a steady flow of cash in hand, which can help alleviate financial burdens during the cash crunch. However, it also means that employees will need to consistently generate revenues in order to maintain their earnings. Failure to generate revenues in a week will result in no salary for that period. The document outlining the policy stated that since the base salary has been suspended, employees will not receive any payout or salaries for the given period. Byju’s did not provide a response to queries regarding this temporary measure.
