Morena Constituency Gears Up for High-Stakes Showdown in Lok Sabha Elections

As the electoral fervor engulfs Morena, Madhya Pradesh, the recent announcement by the Election Commission on May 7 has ignited anticipation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With polling day set for May 7, Morena constituency braces itself for a high-stakes showdown between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC), led by Shivmangal Singh Tomar and Satyapal Singh Sikarwar respectively.

The 2019 election in Morena constituency saw a turnout of 1,837,723 electors, showcasing the active participation of the electorate. Out of the total valid votes cast, which amounted to 1,137,290, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious with a convincing mandate. Their candidate, Narendra Singh Tomar, clinched the seat with an impressive tally of 541,689 votes, reflecting the party’s stronghold in the region.

However, the competition was fierce, as the Indian National Congress (INC) candidate, Ramniwas Rawat, put up a spirited fight, securing 428,348 votes. Despite the formidable performance by Rawat, he fell short by 113,341 votes, highlighting the BJP’s dominance in Morena during the 2019 election.

In the preceding election of 2014, Morena constituency witnessed another compelling contest. With a total electorate of 1,702,457, the turnout underscored the significance of democratic participation. The BJP’s candidate, Anoop Mishra, emerged victorious, capturing the seat with a substantial vote share of 375,567.

His closest competitor was Brindawan Singh Sikarwar of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), who garnered 242,586 votes. Despite the commendable effort by Sikarwar, Mishra secured a convincing victory with a margin of 132,981 votes, consolidating BJP’s position in Morena.
