Two days before the third phase of the LS polls in Madhya Pradesh, Congress MLA Nirmala Sapre joined BJP at a rally of CM Mohan Yadav in Sagar’s Rahatgarh. Sapre is the third state Congress MLA to switch to the saffron camp this election season, citing ‘indecent remarks’ by state Congress chief Jitu Patwari against a Dalit functionary as the trigger for her crossover. She claimed that Congress neither had a government nor an agenda and that she had joined BJP to get her area developed. Sapre represents Bina, the lone Congress-held assembly seat among eight in Sagar LS constituency. Five days ago, six-time party MLA Ram Niwas Rawat also joined BJP, while on March 29, Amarwara MLA Kamlesh Shah switched sides, dealing a shock to Congress on Kamal Nath’s turf.
