HYDERABAD, India – The campus of Woxsen University buzzed with excitement on 10–11 November 2025 as the third International Conference on Fashion as a Tool for Social Change (FTSC 2025) wrapped up successfully. Organized by the School of Arts & Design, this vibrant event explored the juicy theme, ‘Innovating the Present, Preserving the Future.’ It showcased how fashion can be a powerful driver for good by mixing cutting-edge technology with age-old traditions. “Fashion is far more than an aesthetic practice—it is a transformative force capable of driving social awareness, cultural preservation, and environmental responsibility,” said Dr. Sadhna, Associate Professor of Fashion Design, underlining the conference’s inspiring spirit. The two-day hybrid extravaganza attracted 172 abstract submissions from 71 Indian and 14 international institutions. After a sharp peer review, 103 papers were presented—12 live on campus and 91 online! The colorful topics ranged from cultural sustainability and circular economy to ethical design, AI in creative arts, and responsible production. Partners in this creative journey were global names like Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), The British University in Egypt, and BHU, plus industry champs such as Weavers’ Service Centre Hyderabad and IKEA Services India. Day 1 kicked off with a glowing lamp-lighting ceremony by Dr. Adity Saxena, Dean of the School of Arts & Design, who also unveiled the ISBN Abstract Book. The conference heard powerful talks like Dr. Patsy Perry on meaningful work in the garment sector, Dr. Kaustav Sengupta’s session on AI-driven cultural creativity, and Dr. Francesco Mazzarella weaving together the threads of social change. Industry gurus including Dr. S. Arun Kumar and IKEA experts shared hot insights on craft revival and sustainable sourcing. Day 2 was a whirlwind of innovation! Dr. Venkatesh Chennam Vijay amazed the crowd with an AI- and AR-powered saree mirror that blends heritage with tech, crafting a unique, sustainable fashion shopping experience. Other sessions highlighted youth power, behavioral change, inclusive design, circular systems, and ethical entrepreneurship. The grand finale celebrated shining stars with Best Paper Awards, and Prof. Rajesh Kumar highlighted the global impact of the FTSC series. Prof. Arun Kumar Gupta gave a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, applauding everyone from Woxsen’s top leaders to all participants and volunteers who made the event a sparkling success. FTSC 2025 proved once again that fashion is no mere trend—it’s a dynamic tool for social transformation.
