The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has banned the operation of certain Airbus A319, A320, and A321 aircraft until urgent software or hardware fixes are done. This safety directive came after Airbus revealed that strong solar radiation can corrupt critical flight control data. Airbus said on November 28, 2025, that many Airbus A320 family planes might be impacted and need upgrades. Airlines are updating software during stops, but older planes needing hardware changes could be grounded. Pilots have been told to expect disruptions. Airbus apologised for the inconvenience and said safety remains their top priority. The DGCA order clearly states, “no person shall operate the product which falls under the applicability of this Mandatory Modification.” This action will likely cause widespread flight delays and cancellations from November 29, 2025 onward.
